In the Tampa, Florida area, we see these flowers fallen on lawns and sidewalks these days. It is called Silk Floss Tree, I believe. These flowers are very showy and remind me of camellia flowers which also drop off whole flowers instead of petals. They make a pretty pink floral pathway although it seems be a shame to step on them.
